The Importance of a Dog Cookie
I’ll run out of toilet paper or milk before I run out of dog cookies. I’ll see to that.
Today, when my dogs were exchanging glances between me and my property line, waiting for the perfect opportunity to run to the neighbor’s house, I bribed them with one of my most famous tactics. Across the neighborhood, I yelled into the silence, ”Do you want a cookie?!”
I’m aware that bribery may not be the best way to train, but when I put myself behind a wet nose and between 2 floppy ears, I realized that I wouldn’t want to live without my dog cookies.
You, see, I think that we humans have “dog cookies” of our own. How would I feel if no one thanked me for dinner? Or if my boss looked at me with a puzzled expression when I asked him for a raise? Dogs don’t understand thank you. So, what’s left but the dog cookie?
On the flip side, of course, moderation is key. If Pooch gets a cookie every time he turns around, he’s soon going to expect treats for breathing.
Never forget the dog cookies. I think that they mean more to our furry friends than we may realize.
