Peanut butter dog treats without turning on the oven
I’ve made the peanut butter dog treats for my labs a couple of times, but got to wondering if peanut butter was really good for them. I discovered that it has a lot of protein in it, and the oil will give them shiny coats. They’ve never had any side effects from the treats, like diarrhea, or trouble breathing.
I started to put some into their Kongs to keep them busy. And, started using it in place of cheese to get them to take their pills.
My one guy also has a bit of a problem with weight (we say he’s “big boned”). Instead of high-calorie treats, I started giving him carrots, celery, and cukes with just a little bit of peanut butter on them. He has no problem with that diet plan. I guess peanut butter dog treats can go way beyond the kind that require work on my part!
